Event Highlights & New Additions
This marks the first time for Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) hosting this prestigious west-wide event. Attendees gather to share the latest research, management strategies, and conservation successes focused on wild sheep and mountain goats. In addition to technical papers given on Tuesday and Thursday, we are hosting 3 special sessions: “Mountain Goat Management and Conservation”, “Advancements in Mycoplasma Strain-Typing”, and “Wild Sheep Movement Ecology”. Symposium field trips on Wednesday will showcase the rugged beauty of the alpine habitat in the Ruby Mountains and East Humboldt Ranges, home to mountain goats and Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. On Wednesday evening, attendees will enjoy networking opportunities and a celebratory banquet where, for the first time, we will recognize the recipient of the “Outstanding Mountain Ungulate Professional Award” for their lifelong contributions to mountain ungulate conservation and management. We look forward to welcoming the mountain ungulate community to Elko for this landmark anniversary event celebrating conservation, collaboration, and the mountainous landscapes that define the American West.
